Developing marketing to empower youth through vocational training
Do you believe education is a right and not a privilege? Are you passionate about advocating for the right to education? If so, this project might suit you. We are looking for two participants with a background in graphic design who are also proficient in video production and photography. Ideally, you have experience in digital marketing or practical knowledge of media communications. To join this project you should also be creative, a good team player, and have very good English language skills.
The host organisation, the ETASHA Society, is a non-profit organisation offering a combination of training in market-oriented skills and systematic mentoring to youth from low-income families. The ETASHA Society strives to assist young people in overcoming barriers that stand in the way of their becoming skilled contributors to the economy. Based in New Delhi in India, the organisation has about 60 staff members and estimates that over 75% of new jobs created in India will be skill-based. However, the organisation assesses that only 20% of the Indian workforce possesses ‘marketable skills’. The ETASHA Society regards this situation as particularly acute for India’s large and growing population of underprivileged youth. In response, it offers vocational training and training in employment skills for students under age 18 and connects them with employers and/or income opportunities.
As a GLEN participant, you would support the ETASHA Society in showcasing its work through films, photographs, and other visual communication materials. You would thus assist the organisation in promoting its work and spreading its message about the value of vocational training. Your tasks would include the production of a brief video on the ETASHA Society’s work in rural areas, as well as on its work on developing women entrepreneurs. Furthermore, you would engage in designing templates for posters and invitations and assist in developing a low-cost digital marketing strategy for the organisation. GLEN participants are expected to share their skills in order to support the capacity building of ETASHA’s communications team.
