Teaching marginalised children
Are you passionate about working with young children aged six to fourteen? Would you like to become engaged in teaching activities to support marginalized children? You should keep reading! Having training as a teacher is a strong asset for this project.
The Community Transformation Foundation Network is a non-profit organisation based in Kiwangala in southern Uganda. COTFONE’s mission is to support marginalized children in the area of Greater Masaka. The organisation’s activities target orphans and vulnerable children lacking education and employable skills and affected by poverty. COTFONE tries to increase their access to education, contribute to poverty alleviation, and improve community members’ health and nutrition. In addition, COTFANE advocates for the promotion of human rights and environmental protection. Sixteen staff contribute to the organisation’s activities.
As a GLEN participant, you would carry out teaching activities for COTFONE’s beneficiaries both inside and outside the classroom. Your students would be between the ages of six and fourteen and COTFONE would provide you with teaching materials. Furthermore, you would conduct home visits at the students’ houses – this is one of the organisation’s methods for understanding the social background of programme participants and thus become able to provide needy students with additional support.
While performing these tasks, you would be supervised by the organisation’s team and also collaborate with one or two local interns, who would be involved in the same activities.
It would be appreciated if you brought your own laptop for work purposes.
The scheduled time for the internship is three months between July and September 2018.
Training and seminars prior to the internship will be held in English.
The GLEN team will be comprised of one Polish and one German participant.
