The Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University (BSRSU) and its Faculty of Tourism offer BA and MA classes in international tourism management and hospitality. With its 40 staff members, the Faculty of Tourism analyses market trends for developing new business opportunities and provides consulting services to stakeholders in the tourism industry. The BSRSU is located in the port city of Batumi on the Black Sea in the Ajara Region in southwestern Georgia. The BSRSU strives to support and promote the tourism industry, in particular in the surrounding rural areas. To this end, the Faculty of Tourism runs workshops and training sessions for members of rural communities on sustainable tourism and eco-tourism. The BSRSU’s objective is to increase awareness among farmers and other rural inhabitants regarding the economic opportunities that arise from environmental protection and tourism in rural, mountainous areas.
