Youth empowerment through culture, art and education
GLEN combines mutual learning in the Global North and Global South with inner-European exchange. European tandems from Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia as well as Germany form the project teams during a three-month internship in the Global South. They also visit three seminars together, where English is the working language. These experiences of peer-to-peer learning and a change of perspective are the foundation for GLEN participant’s Global Learning Activity.
Do you want to support a programme for youth empowerment? Do you speak some Arabic and you want to improve it? If you have a background in social work, education or art, this project might be of interest for you. Experiences in facilitating youth workshops, good communication skills and proficiency in written and spoken English are additional assets.
Human Supporters Association (HSA) is a grassroots organisation from Nablus, Palestine, which aims to mobilize youth to get active in a positive, non-violent way. The psychological and educational well-being of children, youth and women, who are affected by the occupation, is at the core of their work. By providing an alternative platform for education, HSA wants to create a space for culture, art and recreational activities as well as empower future, self-critical community leaders. A current objective is to become more self-sustainable as an organisation, in order to run small projects independently. In addition, HSA seeks to develop new networks with local and international partners.
As an intern you will participate in the School Support Project, an educational programme by HSA. You can contribute as an animator and facilitator in summer camps, give language classes and/or support the organisation in administrative tasks. The overall aim of the project is to exchange experiences and to enlarge and foster the organisation’s partner network.
The scheduled time for the internship is three months between August and October 2017.
Training and seminars prior to the internship will be held in English.
The GLEN tandem will be formed by a German and an Estonian participant.
