Socio-economic empowerment: Facilitate practical job training in sustainable business and information technology

GLEN combines mutual learning in the Global North and Global South with inner-European exchange. European tandems from Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia as well as Germany form the project teams during a three-month internship in the Global South. They also visit three seminars together, where English is the working language. These experiences of peer-to-peer learning and a change of perspective are the foundation for GLEN participant’s Global Learning Activity. 

You are interested in entrepreneurship and sustainable business? Have you got great communicational skills and want to gain experiences in job training? If you have knowledge in the fields of business, finance, accounting or information technology, this project will be exactly what you are looking for! You should feel comfortable teaching – ideally, you have already carried out a workshop. Apart from English, French language skills are an asset.

The Institute of Practical Accounts and Database (IPAD) is a non-profit organisation from Buea, Cameroon. IPAD offers practical training to aspiring young professionals in order to equip them with skills in business management, finances, entrepreneurship and information technology. Four permanent employees provide courses on topics such as bookkeeping and accounting to members of farmers’ groups, social organisations and schools. Their aim is to fight unemployment and empower young people to join and actively contribute to the local job market.

As a GLEN intern you will support IPAD in setting up a platform to advertise their programme and in recruiting participants. You will co-develop a training workshop and followingly deliver training courses related to bookkeeping, web development, database management, and/or management of small businesses. Throughout the process you will be supported by IPAD trainers and local volunteers.

The scheduled time for the internship is three months between July and September 2017.

Training and seminars prior to the internship will be held in English.

The GLEN team will be formed by an Estonian and two German participants.
