Polish Humanitarian Action
Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is a non-governmental organisation founded in 1994 in Poland which runs both local and overseas operations. Our mission is to make the world a better place through the alleviation of human suffering and the promotion of humanitarian values. We aim at empowering communities in crises to regain responsibility for their own future and become self-reliant. Our activities include:
• Development assistance and humanitarian aid: we assist most vulnerable populations affected by conflict, natural disasters or poverty. Through our presence in the crisis-impacted regions, we aid the local communities in their transition to sustainable development in countries such Afghanistan, Sudan and West Bank and Gaza. In recent years, we have focused mainly on water and sanitation projects and local communities’ empowerment initiatives (food security, education/training). We have provided humanitarian aid in i.e. Chechnya, Sri Lanka, Burma, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Iran.
• Education: we shape the common awareness related to humanitarian aid and global development. We contribute to the process of building tolerant and globally responsible society through our educational programmes and campaigns in Poland.
• Assisting refugees and repatriates: we provide basic social and legal aid for refugees and repatriates who seek assistance or intend to settle down in Poland.
• Fighting malnutrition among pupils in Polish schools: we provide funds for supplementary meals for children suffering from malnutrition in Poland.
